Flysurf or Kitesurfing

Kite surfing (surfing while being guided by a kite a few metres high which one operates like a normal kite) has taken off in Mauritius as it has become all the rage all over the world. Lovely to watch and very physical to do, kiting (as we say here) is only offered by a hand full of local people who have the means to import the equipment. Having said this, to actually kite the prices are a lot lower here than in Europe and some French kite surfers even order and buy their equipment in Mauritius allowing them to kite cheaply once they are here. The kiting spot: The Morne. The Morne has a huge lagoon with constant winds and good waves! But watch out, this site is only good for experienced surfers as the currants are strong and large waves can form suddenly. Beginners are advised to kite in the North or the East coast where the lagoon is more protected and more suitable.
