There are a number of stables on the island and some are located within hotels complexes such as The Coco Beach, La Pirogue and the Maritim Hotels. You will find that some of the stables are far from European standards. The Mauritian beaches being fairly narrow are not suitable for hacking and riding on the public beaches is not permitted so one can ride only in front of hotels where there are not too many people . It is therefore much better to hack in the mountains or in estates where the vegetation is lush and where there is plenty of space. In these areas, you will have a great time whether you’re a beginner or an experienced rider.

 North

These hacks are in a 750 hectare private park where deer roam freely. The estate is in a traditional Mauritian style with flowering gardens, 100 year old tortoises and farm animals making this quiet hack very interesting with pauses for information along the way. The hacks are led by a professional rider and begin from Mont Choisy house at 8am for tea coffee and croissants before setting off. For an evening hack , departure time at 4.30pm and refreshments and snacks are served.

LES LODGES ANDREA AND EXIL

 South

This small riding stable has been set up in an old Creole house close to the lodges and is open to riders of all levels. Four horses are available and hacks are guided by a professional monitor either along the cliffs in the South coast or in the countryside in the interior. This is a beautiful setting for a very pleasant ride.
